Contest Submission: Design a Challenge Coin for the 323rd Military Intelligence BN
This is my official submission for the Alpha Company 323rd Military Intelligence Battalion’s contest to design a new Challenge Coin for the unit.
My coin is round with a cutout that makes it dual use as a bottle opener, which always comes in handy. The criteria was to have the unit insignia (the sphinx and sword), the unit nickname (Alpha Aces) and the MI crest (Rose, sun, compass, sword composite).
I decided to go literal with the Alpha Aces and design them as a set of Ace of Spade playing cards with the unit insignia resting in the spade. I also liked the reference to poker. “Ace-Ace: This is the best Hold’em poker hand you can hope to have. It’s the best of the best, and will win more than any other hand.”
I am sending it in tonight for review and will hear the results around the first week of November.
